For Sale: 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe "Little Sandy"

Introducing Little Sandy, a legendary 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Drag Car with an illustrious racing history. This car was originally built and raced by Bill Clark and Jimmy Cox in Austin, Tx. This traditional hot rod was customized throughout the 1950s and 1960s. With a rich history and period-correct features, Little Sandy is a unique opportunity for collectors and drag racers alike.

Little Sandy set a world record for "C" gas cars in 1959 at the Houston Freeway Race Track, completing the ¼ mile in an impressive 12.20 seconds. This car has a large racing history, with various motors used throughout its racing career into the 1960s. The car currently has a more tame 301 V8 driver motor under the hood. The last race motor that was in the car was a 396ci V8. This motor is in parts but can be included in the sale of the vehicle.

The current owner of Little Sandy first saw the car around Austin in his youth while working at a local service station down the road from Bill Clarks garage and he fulfilled a dream by purchasing the car in 1971. Since then, he has been the custodian of the car for 53 years, and it sits today just as he purchased it back in 1971.
